Light vs. Dark

Here at the Dickason house, one member of the family has started a question for the optimist vs. pessimist debate. Just like the glass-half-full vs. glass-half-empty debate, Sophia questions whether the light is on or the dark is off.

She has recently grown tall enough to turn lights on and off and has been given permission to do so. However, she refers to this job as turning the dark off and on. No matter if we correct her, she is adamant that she is turning the dark off and on.

And honestly, between her choice in dark vs light and her affinity for her black crayon, we are concerned that we have a 2-1/2 year old going through a goth phase. And we're not sure what to do about it. We weren't prepared to deal with such a phase for at least another ten years. We have not researched how to handle such a phase; we have not sought out the wisdom and guidance of parents of teenagers who are dealing with the same problems. I mean, I know that kids seem to be growing up too fast these days, but this is ridiculous.

You could see the "light side" of it and thank her that she is going through the phase right now.

Or maybe we have a new Dark Jedi on our hands. I shall alert the Council at once.

You never cease to make me laugh. Thanks Quinn! I especially chuckled that she is just now tall enough to reach the switches... Wayne has been tall enough for at least the last 6 months or so, so thank your short stars for the delay in the darkside debate! :-)
